Claire's Charlie Dress

After months of eying the absolutely adorable Charlie dress over at Made by Rae I finally took the plunge and sewed one for Claire!  I actually made her a Charlie Tunic first, but I always really had the goal of making the dress so I went right ahead and purchased the add-on pattern piece. Even though I was pretty sure I could figure out how to make it into a dress on my own, my (limited) time right now is more satisfying when it's spent just making what I want rather than 'figuring things out'.  I actually sewed a dress first for my niece Hattie for Christmas, and then made Claire's dress.  I realized that I am not great at sewing the same pattern back to back, obviously I improve upon it the second time around which is good, but I notice I get fidgety and antsy for the project to be done.  I definitely prefer to sew something different in between.
Here's some pictures of the final product, I was very happy and I am definitely inspired to make her more!

I was really pleased with the pattern.  Since making the tunic and then the dress I would definitely like to buy more patterns from http://www.made-by-rae.com/ I have been reading her blog for awhile now.  The instructions were really clear and the step-by-step pictures were especially helpful.  Actually, this was really one of my first projects (including the original tunic) where I sewed on sleeves!  It's not that hard at all, just took a few times to really get the feel for it.
The fabric is from my always favorite local ZFabrics.  The main fabric is Tula Pink - Topiary Mist and I'm not sure what the purple polka dot fabric is, but I love it!  Choosing and matching complementary fabrics for a project like this is one of the best parts!
Looking at these pictures makes me feel inspired to get out there and make another one!  Or another pattern by Rae??  Maybe the new Geranium Dress?
